Industrial Rope Access Training
Altius is an accredited IRATA training facility, servicing the Southern and Western African regions.
We have a proven track record of providing quality training for any level of technician in the rope access industry. Our experienced and dedicated trainers have practical insights of the challenges faced onshore and offshore. We will guide any student either through the Internationally recognised IRATA training program, or through the Fall Arrest and Working at Height courses.

IRATA Training
Industrial rope access has been developed by IRATA International for over 25 years to a point where it is the chosen means of access for much of the work in the offshore oil and gas industry as well as a range of projects in construction, civil engineering, the built and natural environment and much more. Our training follows the guidelines and structures set by IRATA (Industrial Rope Access Trade Association). These serve as the foundation for the training we offer. We take pride in our distinctive training style, which pays close attention to detail. Our extensive industry experience allows us to ensure that every technician is fully prepared to work safely in the demanding environments they encounter on a daily basis.​
The three technical grades are:
IRATA Level 1
For beginners, this course lays a solid foundation in rope access techniques and safety protocols.
On qualification the rope access technician will be able to perform a specified range of rope access tasks under the supervision of a Level 3.
IRATA Level 2
An advanced course, focusing on complex rigging and rescue techniques.
This is an experienced rope access technician who has Level 1 skills plus more complex rigging, rescue and rope access skills, under the supervision of a Level 3. A minimum of 1000 hours as a Level 1 technician and a valid Level 1 qualification is required to enroll.
IRATA Level 3
A more advanced course aimed at those aspiring to lead. This course delves into advanced rescue procedures and managerial aspects of rope access work.
A rope access technician who is capable of complete responsibility for rope access safety in work projects. Is able to demonstrate the skills and knowledge required of Levels 1 and 2. Is conversant with relevant work techniques and legislation. Has an extensive knowledge of advanced rigging and rescue techniques. Holds an appropriate and current first aid certificate and has knowledge of the IRATA International certification scheme. A minimum of 1000 hours as a Level 2 technician and a valid Level 2 qualification is required to enroll.
